Shopping for a new place to call home can sometimes be overwhelming especially when you’ve lived in the same place for a while. It is especially hard when you know you are moving into someplace a lot smaller than your current home.
Model apartments, like model homes are just the right tools to help potential new residents imagine themselves living in the new place. Senior living communities like other residential properties struggle with combining the right mix of materials and styles to help seniors see themselves living in their community. Matching the model décor to the potential resident is never an easy task when your market is someone who is downsizing or having to move because of a reason other than they just want to. Selling new spaces to family members who are assisting in these moves is also tough. But seeing a well-furnished and stylish apartment always goes a long way to helping anyone make that decision. In the case of Cascades, updating the model was a choice made to accommodate another need: adding a functional guest suite for visitors. By using the existing model as a guest suite and creating another model apartment, Cascades was able to use both units as selling tools. The new guest suite is shown without a built in breakfast bar and instead a small table with chairs is used for dining, the new model has the standard breakfast bar that is part of the kitchenette. Both models use furnishings and décor that you would find in Crate and Barrel or other home furnishing retailers to allow anyone the ability to “see themselves” living comfortably in a new space. All the pieces are easily purchased through local retail stores so if someone wanted a smaller sofa than the one they currently have, they could get one just like in the model without having to go through a designer or other resource.SEE FULL PROJECT DETAILS.
