RESIDENCE FLOORS & SEATING AREAS
Residence hallways are always a challenge, especially when designing a comfortable living environment for seniors. When Cascades decided to renovate the residents hallways on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors they faced the same challenges as they did on the first floor-- poor lighting, bad handrails, worn out carpeting and no artwork. The other issues were very long hallways that were exhausting for residents to navigate. Installing benching along the way helped to minimize the long walks and gave residents a stopping point ease the strain of walking the long distances. On each of the floors small seating groups were added near the laundry rooms, elevators and activity rooms that are on each floor. The color palettes were chosen to compliment the lobby colors in order to give each floor its own identity. A large table and chairs were added on the landing above the reception desk on the 2nd floor for residents to use as an impromptu meeting place for card games or group gatherings.SEE FULL PROJECT DETAILS.
