Amenities in senior living communities are big, especially when they are community focused. Cascades decided in 2013 to change what was once a boring TV/game room on the 2nd floor (see attached before picture) into a state of the art theater room that would allow residents to view movies, hear lectures and see sporting events together. Activity directors have always had movie nights, but now they can be held in a room that is designed with a state of the art sound system that allows those who are hearing impaired to enjoy hearing the movie as well as watching it on a HD video screen. To complete the movie experience a popcorn machine and beverage bar were also included in the design. Custom seats were designed for comfort as well as convenience with built in cup holders just like going to the movie theater! The big difference is the custom seating that allow seniors to feel comfortable getting in and out of without their chair without assistance. These chairs also have locking casters so that the residents can’t move them, but the staff can move these chairs without effort; arranging them in a way that allows easy access for the residents. The colors and artwork complete the design aesthetic, giving this room a dramatic new look that is sophisticated and designed with purpose.SEE FULL PROJECT DETAILS.
